Pro-ject Audio Systems, one of the most prolific modern manufacturer of turntables will be showing off a most unusual looking turntable at the coming Kuala Lumpur International AV Show 2019 with its The Beatles Yellow Submarine turntable.

Made in tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the famed Beatles movie which was first released to cinemas the world over in 1968, the Yellow Submarine Turntable is said to be available only in a limited number.

The plinth as you may guess is crafted from rigid MDF board to resemble a submarine and is painted in yellow. Its other components include a clear glass platter, an S-Shaped tonearm and an Ortofon yellow Concord cartridge called Sonar. Dual speeds of 33 and 45 rpm are offered.

In addition The Yellow Submarine turntable features a belt drive system with synchronous motor and to reduce vibrations the plinth is mounted on vibration absorbing feet.

The Project Yellow Submarine Turntable measures 500mm x 120mm x 400mm and weighs approximately 4.5kg.

The Yellow Submarine may be purchased with or without dustcover and may be reviewed at the coming KL International AV Show 2019 July 26-28 at the CMY Sound & Visual room at level 3, Vistana Hotel.

Dick Tan is one of the longest serving member of the audio-video industry having spent close to 45 years in it. Tan started in the mid 70s working in audio showrooms and writing for fledgling audio magazines in the country.

“I have been through turntables to open reel and cassette tape decks to amplifiers and speakers in that golden era of hi-fi to the sophistication of today's digital audio and AV components such as Bluray and UHD Bluray discs players to streamers and beyond. In the end they all have one common goal … to achieve audio and video in the best, most efficient way possible.”

The other 'hat' that Tan wears, at least once each year, is that of the organiser of the AV Show which started in 1994. The KL International AV Show has been consistently held every year since for the last 26 record breaking years.
